Proper nutrition plays a vital role in a child’s development. Our kitchen staff pride themselves in preparing balanced and nutritious homemade meals using only fresh ingredients. Our learners take a short nap in the afternoon.
Sensory play is any activity that stimulates children's senses: touch, smell, taste, sight and hearing. Stimulating the senses helps children develop thinking, language, social-emotional, and physical skills. This may sometimes involve messy play – when substances such as paint/sand/jelly is being used, we always ensure that it is safe to consume.
Our teachers plan activities that will encourage and support the development of fine-and gross motor skills to prepare them for a good pencil grip later on (to name but one).
Teachers will facilitate the development of language and social skills through appropriate language activities, reading, fantasy play, role play and free play.
Maths will be incorporated in the daily learning program through solving problems and playing games with concrete materials. Teachers will facilitate and encourage critical thinking and reasoning by creating situations for learners to solve on their own as well as with teacher guidance.
Children are assessed on their academic progress each term. At the end of each term we provide parents with a report card and schedule parent-teacher meetings to discuss their child’s progress.
